EBN is a unique company in the energy sector, 100% owned by the Dutch government. For over 50 years, we have been using our knowledge, expertise, and impact to actively contribute to our future sustainable energy system. We provide connecting power to the energy transition, turning societal ambitions into reality. That's what we do, that's our drive.
Just like the ever-changing energy landscape, EBN as a company is constantly evolving. In addition to traditional exploration and production topics, EBN specialists are heavily involved in developing new energy systems such as geothermal energy, transportation, and offshore hydrogen production. EBN's contribution as a knowledge center is recognized both nationally and internationally. To shape this transition, EBN is also working (with its partners) on offshore CO2 storage projects like Porthos and Aramis.
This part of EBN is growing rapidly, and for this Business Unit CO2 Transport & Storage Systems (CTOS), we are now looking for an experienced Flow Assurance Engineer. A role where you can shape the achievement of the Dutch climate goals with your technical skills.
The role
As a Flow Assurance Engineer at CTOS, you will work on CO2 storage projects. You will work within a team with people from related disciplines. You will have plenty of opportunities to share your knowledge and expertise with the team. A secondment to one or more Operators/Joint Venture partners is also possible. In addition, you will act as a knowledge carrier, following and contributing new insights from both domestic and international sources within our Center of Expertise. This translates into tasks such as:
Developing injection strategies for the injection of CO2 into depleted gas fields or aquifers. Since CO2 transport is done via a pipeline or ship, you will look at how to best connect the subsurface to the aboveground facilities.
Modeling the complex phase behavior of CO2 in pipeline(s) and injection wells. This is done using the EBN in-house tool Calysto, or commercial software such as PIPESIM and OLGA.
Assessing technical work done in various stages of the development of CCS projects. You identify strengths and weaknesses and present the findings clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues. If necessary, you can verify the work done by setting up your own flow assurance models.
Contributing to best practices, standards, and innovation projects in the field of CO2 storage.
Representing EBN at external meetings with collaborating partners and advocating for EBN's interests in existing and future EBN participations.
Some of the work is done within EBN, but you will also have the opportunity to observe the development of CO2 storage by other parties (with EBN as a partner) and provide advice to those parties.
